March 16, 2004 Dear Potential Family Members: Thank you so much for the genealogical research you have completed and made available on the Internet. You have definitely lightened my load as I search for my ancestors. I am researching my great-grandfather’s ancestor line. His name was Jesse Wilson Tennis (b. Feb 2, 1869 in Newton Township, Taney, Missouri). I have his father as Wilson Tennis, born 1826, OH. His mother was Wilson Tennis’ fifth wife named Melvina Mathews. (Please see 1880 Census Place: Finley, Christian, Missouri: T9_681; Family History Film: 1254681; Page 55A Enumeration District: 10; Image 0112.) Lydia was the first born and Jesse Wilson Tennis, my great-grand dad was the second born. As family lore has it, great-grand dad was the last of twenty five children. The other wives of Wilson Tennis are in chronological order of their marriage dates: Martha E. (from Tennessee, first born child William A. Tennis, 1849), Nancy (from IL, first born child Enos, 1869), C.N. (I believe the C might stand for Cass. I found some family documents that make me think that is her name.) I have no record of children. Mary C. Draper, again I have no record of children, and then Melvina Mathews, from MO with the above 1880 Census I cited above. My research makes me believe that Wilson Tennis’ father was Adison Tennis, or as captured in one US Census Addyson Tevnis, born 1804 OH. He married Lucinda Laney. She was from Frederick County, VA, born April 29, 1810. They were married November 10, 1825 in Jackson, Brown Co, OH. Adison’s father is Jesse Tennis, born about 1776. He married Mary Wilson, and she was born about 1772. His father was Joshua Tennis, b. 1735 in St. Mary, Maryland and his father was Absalom Tennison. Now if you can spot any errors in my research, or if you have additional information, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. You can email, write or phone me. All the contact information is in the above letterhead. Another interesting point from one researcher is that a collegue documents Adison/Addyson Tenvis as Jim Addison Tennis. Have you found the same? I am most intrigued. As to Lucinda Laney, I have her parents as John Laney and Elizabeth Taylor, and his parents as Samuel Laney and Elizabeth, out of VA. Elizabeth Taylor's parents are William Taylor and Ann _____ no surname found yet. Again my sincere thanks for contacting me and sharing any information you might have. I look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Lori Hefner 201 Briaridge Court Pleasant Hill, CA 94523 925-938-3542 lorihefner1@sbcglobal.net Notify Administrator about this message?
