For anyone interested in the Tenney's of West Virginia:
From: Noel W. Tenney
Greetings from the West Virginia Tenney Family Reunion Organization. We meet each year on the third Sunday of September in Tallmansville, Upshur County , West Virginia as descendants of James and Thankful Shippee Tenney. This family arrived here in Upshur County in 1814 from Charlemont, MA. as a part of the larger New England settlement that came here from 1801 to c.1830. They had purchased land from the Ruggle Woodbridge Land Company in MA and later found that no one purchasing such land had a clear title to the land. James, a soldier in the American Revoluntionary War first settled in the Middle Fork, Queens area and by 1836 moved to the Sago/Mt. Carmel Road area where he died in 1841 and is buried at the Elbon Cemetery. (His 1836 home is being relocated and restored in 1999 by the Tenney Family Reunion Organization. The Reunion of 1999 is on Saturday, Sept. 18 (house work day) and as official gathering on Sunday, Sept. 19 for a covered lunch, 1:00pm at the Donnie and Nadine Tenney Farm in Tallmansville. All kith and kin of the Tenney Family is welcome. The James and Thankful Shippee Tenney Family of West Virginia book by Patty Webb Eubank of Oklahome City, Ok is being published as 3rd. edition in the near future. It is a very complete listing of the West Virginia Tenney Family. I serve as the historian of our organization here and will answer or direct your inquiry if interested. Be patient!!!!!!!!
