One error in your posting - Oliver son of Oliver and Meribah Fones is not the Oliver that married Abigail Braman.I don't know for sure who the father of Oliver that married Abigail is - I do know that Oliver and Abigail were cousins.I think that Havens may be the father, but have no proof.Havens was listed in a census as having about 10 children, but no detail. Some listings have Constant as a son of Havens.
On an other note - I am glad to hear from you.I lost track of your family with Charles Rowe going to Alberta - he homesteaded in Alberta - I think that is what I determined.
I am a descendant of William Warner Tennant - brother of Oliver W.The line goes - William Warner - John W. - Volney - Ronald R. - me.John W. and brothers went west to Illinois before the Civil War - when the war started - John W. went back to PA and went into the service from there - nothing of his war experiences have been passed down - apparently he never talked about it.After the war he went to Iowa with several brothers and his parents. My Dad knew him when he was a boy.
I have a lot of information about the family if you have any questions - maybe I can answer them. The 4 Tennant brothers that all married Braman sisters went to New Milford area of NE PA about 1815-1820s or so - not all at the same time.Oliver's will did not treat his son Oliver W. very well - they must have had a falling out - Oliver's farm went to a grandson.Oliver was 50 when he went to PA - all of the brothers must have been pretty tough - they had to clear their farms out to the forest with only hand tools.
If you would like to contact me directly - my email address is [email protected] questions for you - are you still in Alberta - I went to Edmonton on business a few times in the late 1970s.Drove thru Jasper and Banff also. What is Alberta like for living - when I was there in the summer, it was quite pleasant. My contact there talked about the artic front and going north of Edmonton where the wolves would come down in the winter.
There are still more Tennants in Scotland and England than in the US.I am going to the Edinburg area of Scotland in March, but don't have a clue of how to find out anything about Alexander Tennant's ancetors in Scotland.Mostly, I just want to see what Scotland is like.
Hope to hear from you
Roger Tennant
