This obituary was printed in the Dominion Post Newspaper, Morgantown, WV on Saturday, July 2, 2005.

Dessie Pearl Statler McCord, 90, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 1, 2005, at home, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born February 15, 1915, at Core, WV, the daughter of the late George and Mary Moore Statler.
Dessie was a member of the Daybrook Church of Christ, retired from West Virginia University, Boreman Hall, and in younger days, loved to quilt.
Dessie is survived by three children and spouses, Willa Ruth and David Howard of Miracle Run, Lawrence Lee and Janet McCord of Accident, MD, and Ronnie Lynn and Sharon McCord of Daybrook; 11 grandchildren, Debb Dyer and fiance, Mark Skinner, Rich and Deanna Howard, Garret and Michele Howard, Mike and Marissa Howard, Kerry and Leann Howard, Randy McCord, Alisa and Richard Kline, Sherri and Ryan Heldreth, Michelle and Kirk Tuttle, John Fenton and Casey McCord, Matthew Alan McCord; 12 great-grandchildren, David and Lisa Dyer, Nicole and Steve Stiltner, Krissy Craig, Travis, Ashlynn and Skylar Howard, Abigaile Kline, Cynthia Cline, Ciara Heldreth, Kirstin McCord and Iris Tuttle and Daniel Dyer; nine great-great grandchildren, Kara, Brandon Nickelson, J.C. and Kelley Poitevint and Morning Star Duncan, Michael and Morgan Dyer, Gabby and Dessie Stiltner; one brother, John Statler; two sisters, Lucille Johnson and Louise Poling; and several nieces and nephews survive. She is also survived by her care givers, Valera Howard and Sandi Porter.
Dessie was preceded in death by her husband, Fenton McCord, on October 1, 1975, after 40 years of marriage; four brothers, Brunell, James, Herbert and Wilbert Statler; two brothers at infancy, Charlie and Jessie Lee Statler; three sisters, Myrtie Main, Dottie Hovatter and Rosalie Walls.
Friends and family will be received at Domico Funeral Home Curry Chapel in Fairview from noon-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Sunday, July 3.
She will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, July 4, at the Daybrook Church of Christ, with Evangelist Earl P. Stevens officiating.
Burial will follow at the Daybrook Cemetery.
