John TenBrook and Katie Emmons
I am researching John TenBrook (originally Johannes TenBroeck), who was born in 1738-1739 in Somerset County, New Jersey, owned a farm and tavern in Reading (now Readington) Township, Hunterdon County, was a Lt. Col. in the New Jersey Militia, and moved to Northumberland/Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, in about 1785.It is widely reported that his last wife was one Katie Emmons, although I have not seen any citations to primary sources that establish this. The only work that I've found to support this is The History of Lycoming County Pennsylvania, edited 1892, which is about a century afterwards.
Does anyone on this board have available any Hunterdon County, New Jersey, or Northumberland/Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, sources or books that mention either John or Katie? Also, does anyone have available "An Emmons Genealogy" 1981 by Corwin Emmons?According to a Rootweb post, John's sale of his Reading farm is described in Pages 4-8.
