Wiiliam Telford was my great grandad, I've found a few details if you're interested.

He lived in Dumfries at time of his marriage to Violet Ethel in 09/06/1912. Their marriage cert lists David as Father and age on wedding as 27. He died serving as a "Greaser" on HMS Ramsey in WW1. An account of the incident where the Ramsey was sunk by a german Q-boat can be found on the Manx Family History website.
Admiralty papers into sinking of Ramsey list him in crew with wife Violet living in 20 Bridge Road, Douglas. She was paid 25/- on his death.
