Hi Susan, since posting this help message, we have received copies of the original records from Greene County and Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. The Greene County records show that Daniel Teer Sr. died first in 1836. Daniel Teer Jr. died in early 1844 in Tuscaloosa County. It lists just four children receiving money: Iredell Teer, Mary Teer, Joseph Teer and M. Jane Teer. This would also make Daniel Jr. the Posmaster at Jena, Alabama. His successor was appointed on March 28, 1844 so he died prior to March 28th. The information about the Postmaster came from a very informative book: Ancestors and Descendants of the Dearman-Deerman and Related Families by Velvo & Margaret Chaney, 1988. This book has a lot of information on the Teer family.
