Hi, I'm pretty new to this but I've seen both George Teeple and John Teeple married to Sophia Guest. I think that his name might of been George John Teeple (or the reverse) and George (the first) was a Saint's name. The first name is used (typically) only in church proceedings. This is common in early Palatinate emmigrants.
John Teeple (Tippel) married Sophia Guest 12 Sept 1790 according to the records of Zion Lutheran Church at Oldewick, Hunterdon Co., NJ (transcript available online).
Check out the Teeple People website (www.teeplepeople.com) and contact Anne. She is a wealth of information about the Teeple lines. I know at least one other researcher is studying the Teeple/Guest line.
I come from a different line: Isaac and Cathy (Castner) Teeple were my gggg-grandparents, but he and his probable father Christopher Teeple (b. 1730) both came from NJ too.
Hope this helps, happy hunting!
