RS108 - land petition of Mariner Teed, 1810, F4174:
To the Honorable Martin Hunter Esquire
President of His Majesty's Council and Commander in Chief over the Provind of New Brunswick...

The memorial of Joseph Ward, Joseph Ward, Jun., Ebenezer Ward, Thomas Ward, Daniel Ward and Mariner Teed all of Lebuctouche.

Most humbly showeth[?] that your memorialists have lived in this Province from their infancy and three of them have families and all wish to become useful[?] settlers.
They beg leave to represent to your Honor that there is a quantity of vacant land situated between lands granted to Elijah Ayer, Phineas Ward and others at the mouth of the Lebuctouche Harbour and the Coucagne Grant or Bar
on the north side of Coucagne Harbour.
Your memorialists therefore pray that your Honor will be pleased to direct that an order of survey may pass to them for the said land, or such a par of it as Your Honor in your wisdom may judge most proper.
And you memorialists as in duty bound will ever pray,
Joseph Ward (300 ac noted in margin)
Joseph Ward, Jr. (200 noted in margin)
Lebuctouche 20th March 1810                     Thomas Ward (200 noted in margin)
Daniel Ward (200 noted in margin)
8 years of age              Mariner Teed (name crossed out)
Ebenezer Ward (200 noted in margin)
                                                 2 Oct 1810

The within named Joseph Ward, Eben. Ward and Daniel Ward all have families and are industrious men. Thomas and (Daniel crossed out) Joseph Ward, Jun. are both single but of age. Mariner Teed is a boy of about 8 years was left an orphan last summer (his father being drowned in the Gulph) and asks for the lot his father intended applying for if his honor and council think proper to take his case into consideration and his friends will thankfully accept what they may be pleased to allow.

[Note: Mariner Teed was the oldest son of Johnathan Teed. Two of his mother's sisters were married to two of the above Wards, Phineas and either Ebenezer or Daniel.]
