Teed/Tidd in New Brunswick
The name "Mariner" appears very often in the Teed Family and it occurred to me that Teed researchers might be interested in where it originated.Dr. William Cochrane Milner in his "History of Sackville" says "Thomas Ayer and his wife had four children, Elijah,Mariner,William and Thomas.Son Mariner was born on a Schooner near Digby and they gave him the name "Mariner". Mariner and his brother Thomas died at sea. Son Elijah was a Privateer during the war of 1812 and was given the nickname of "the Commodore".
Elijah's daughter Elizabeth married Jonathan Teed and they named a son "Mariner" after her uncle Mariner Ayer and the name was passed on to descendants.
