Cheri:
You are correct. We are cousins, however I think you have me as being one generation off.My uncle, Jack MacDonald, was the one who was in World War II in the Philippines.
Anyway, My father was Alecander MacDonald. He was the son of Archibald MacDonald and Mary (Tecklenburg) Rudloff.Mary Tecklenburg was married first to a man named Albert Rudloff.Albert died in 1906, and shortly thereafter, Mary married secondly to my grandfather, Alexander.Unfortunately, he apparently did not treat Mary as well as he should have and there was some animosity between the Tecklenburgs and my grandfather and father. After meeting with several of the California Tecklenburgs a number of years ago, I believe I was able to get the MacDonalds back in good graces.
Mary Tecklenburg, who was born at Lodi in 1879, was the daughter of Herman Tecklenburg and Margareta Jurgens, both of who immigrated from Germany.Your Alvine Tecklenburg was my Mary's nephew, the son of her older brother, Herman Tecklenburg and Louise Eklund.
I have nine generations of the Tecklenburg family researched and written-up, and another cousin of ours, Eleanor Emmel, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota has used most of my data to put together a Tecklenburg genealogy primarily covering the Tecklenburgs that settled in Iowa.I recently corresponded with some other Tecklenburg cousins that had settled in Charleston, South Carolina.
I have been toying with the idea of creating a Tecklenburg web page so other "cousins" can check on their ancestry, but have not gotten around to it.I have researched and written up over 300 families over the years, approximately 50 plus of which are our direct line pedigree families associated with the Tecklenburg and Jurgaens families.
Anyway, if you are interested in any of this just let me know, or if you just want to say hello once in awhile that is fine also.I believe we are probably second cousins, possibly once removed, whatever that means.Glad you contacted me, and wish you all the best!
