Hello Ace!

Thank you for taking the time to answer my inquiry. This is my "brick wall" and I have spent may hours looking for Jenny and Catherine. Some of our family have the look of Native Americans with dark skin and dark hair. I was told by some of my older relatives that we are of Native American descent, therefore, I have been looking in that direction for clues to Jenny's ID. I know that my g-g-grandfather, Jenny's husband Leander Teater and his family, are from Germany to Westmoreland County PA to Shelby County IL to TN and then to Calhoun County AR. I know there are lot's of Teaters in Kentucky, but I have not found a connection to my family.

When I saw the 1880 Hardeman County TN census for Geo. Cupp-Head; S. C. (Catherine?) Cupp-daughter; and B. Jane (Jenny?) Cupp-grandaughter, I thought that maybe the mother had not been married or had not taken her husband's name. That was the reason, I was wondering about the naming traditions of the different tribes. I will keep looking and maybe find something one of these days. Thanks again for your time....lh
