Teas Family Genealogy Forum

I am looking for information on John Samuel Teas b. circa 1821 in Ireland? Ran away to Germany/ Switzerland as a young boy, apprenticed as a clock maker, and immigrated to the U.S. , around 1840-45?, served in the Mexican/ American War, married Mary J. Warner in 1851, had children (3 that survived),and joined the Confederate cause in the Civil War. Escaped Point Lookout, Maryland, contracted yellow fever on a prisoner exchange vessel that was redirected to Bermuda, and died there. WHEW !!!! THAT IS A MOUTHFUL !!!!
We have proof of his marriage, service in the Civil War, a letter from Point Lookout (index of his name online - still have to obtain record), and the family legends and stories of his life. We cannot verify as of yet, John's death , his service record still needs to be obtained, and wedon't really know if he died on Bermuda or not.We also do not know how his wife learned of John's death.
As for records of his early life, we have no records whatsoever.
If anyone has more information than we do, please respond to this forum. We would be happy to share any information we have also.Thank you, Vicki Baird.
