Mary Jane TEAS (or SHEPHERD?) m. John (or Daniel?) HAMMER

I have a question regarding who the parents of Mary Jane TEAS (or SHEPHERD?) are? My family has passed on the family tree as follows:

Martha Jane HAMMER (1846-1898) married Robert Emmett BARRICKMAN (1843-1921). Parents of Martha: Mary Jane SHEPHERD (about 1807?-) married Daniel HAMMER (no information on him).

Somebody has recently sent me information claiming that the real parents of my Martha Jane HAMMER are John HAMMER (not Daniel as our family records indicate), and Jane C. TEAS (not Mary SHEPHERD, as our family records show.

I would greatly appreciate any information on my line(s), and any documentation that someone could provide. I've already added lots of information that other researchers have sent, and posted, based on the family records that I've inherited, including the SHEPHERD, VAN METER, and DuBOIS lineages.

I'm hoping that I can clear up this discrepancy before I spend too much time and resources following the wrong lineages. Thanks.
