Yes Pamela, Dietz could be interpreted as Ditch. It has been changed so many times, because of the confusion over the handwriting in those days. When Henry arrived in Philadelphia (the story goes) he was asked his name, and he pointed to a ditch. His name was Heinrick Teutsch (which means dike or canal in German). We also have relative who spell it Dietsch. please email me. Carl Ditch
