In the name of God Amen.
I , James Taylor of Rutherford Co. and the state of Tennessee being weak in body, but sound of mind and memory, do make and direct this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following towit: This my last will and I do direct that all my just debts be paid and personal expenses, be paid out of my personal estate by the executors I have appointed,
Then I bequeath to my loved wife Sary Taylor during her natural life one bed and firniture (Furniture) also house hole (household) and kitchen furniture and chest and living wheal?? Also two cows & calves & (maybe herford) ?? Head (herd) of sheep one sow & pigs a red one & two stands of bee & one tom one duck one weed hoe ___I also give to Jesse Taylor one Mans laddle__also to my daughter Darkie Arnold I give 20 dollars___and the rest of my property to be sold and equaly divided----
I then give and bequeath to my grandson King Patterson thereby 5 acres of land where on his father & mother lives Catlet Patterson & Sary his wife which is read & marked off, his mother liberty to live on it her life time if she choses if she should think it proper to move of?? It, the land and plantation to be in the hands of my exec. To dispose of as they think best for the benefit of the child. But in any case whatever there is no rite (right) for any one to sell or purchase 80 acres for no short or long, for any trades or contracts that can be made by the 80 acres. But if the Sary Patterson should die without any other aire?? (heir) & the said King Patterson shall die without aire?? (heir) the said 35 acres is to be sold & the money to be equally divided among my six younger children and the rest of my property to be sold and equally divided among all my children.
Lastly I nominate consitute and & appoint my son James Taylor my executor to this my last will & testment, making void any and all others by me in any manners hereto fore made witness, where of I have heard unto my hand & seal the 12th of Dec 1817. Sealed and acknowledged in presence of ; Ben Ransome, James Snill, Joseph Smith
