Hello Karen,
So nice to finally hear from somebody. We are indeed related. My grandfather (George W. C. Taverner) was your grandfather's younger brother. He had 10 children as well, and I'm the daughter of the youngest girl, Velma. I guess this would make our mothers first cousins.
The research that I've done so far, shows James Edward Taverner (your grandfather) as the fourth child. He was named after his father.
This is the family as I know it :
Father : James Edward Taverner
Mother : Annie Martha Woods
they were married 11 March 1882 in Toronto
( I have their wedding photo and would be happy
to e-mail it to you )
Children:
1 - Renetta Taverner (Queenie) Born - 2 January ??
2 - Margaret Anne Taverner - Born - 10 January 1885
3 - Charlotte Jane Taverner - Born - 12 November 1886
4 - James Edward Taverner - Born - 13 November 1888
5 - Euphemia Taverner (Aunt Pheme) Born - 15 June 1890
6 - Harold Emmanuel Taverner Born - 21 October 1892
7 - Beatrice Elizabeth Taverner - Born - 3 August 1894
8 - Isabelle Victoria Taverner - Born - 9 April 1897
9 - John Thomas Taverner - Born - 1 December 1899
10- Annie Martha Taverner - Born - 27 December 1900
11- Ruby May Taverner - Born - 5 May 1903
12- George Wm. Charles Taverner - Born - 6 March 1905
13- Carl Taverner - Born - 21 April 1907
14- Hazel Nellie Taverner - Born - 22 April 1909
I also have a fair amount of information about the grandparents of our grandfathers " JamesTaverner Sr. and his wife Ann (haven't found her last name yet, census records state her birthplace as Ireland) I found and ordered the will of James Taverner Sr. from the Archives of Ontario.
They came to Canadaand had only 2 children. (James Edward and his sister Margaret)
The parents of Annie Martha Woods were William and Charlotte Woods also born in England where they had 4 of their children before coming to Canada, where they had 3 more. Annie Martha was the 6th of 7 children.
The 14th child of the above group "Aunt Hazel Taverneris as far as I know still alive as I spoke to her daughter a few months ago.
I have some more info on the Taverners/Woods and would be pleased to share.
Also I would be tickled pink to find out what happened to the other lines of the 14 brothers and sisters.
You could post another message or just reply directly to my e-mail address.
Hoping to hear from you soon,
Brenda
