Tauscher Family Suffers Two Deaths

And Wenzel, Tacoma, Die
Only 1 Day Apart
An unusual incident occurred within the past week when two well known members of the Tauscher family died within a day of one another.The men in question, Wenzel Tauscher of Tacoma and Jim Tauscher of Rt. 2 Chehalis were cousins.Up to ten years ago Wenzel Tauscher lived near Chehalis and was well known locally.Jim Tauscher has lived in the Chehalis district ever since coming to Lewis County over 40 years ago.
Wenzel Tauscher was 66 years of age at the time of his death Saturday March 9.His home was at Fircrest, Tacoma.He engaged in dairying near Chehalis previous to moving to that city and was a member of both the Modern Woodsmen and Woodsmen of the World lodges here. Surviving relatives are the widow, Mrs. Katherine Tauscher; five sons, J.A., Lawrence, Joseph and Robert of Tacoma and William of Chehalis; six daughters; Mrs. C.N. Frost, Mrs. J. M. Larsen and Mrs. C.A. Myers of Chehalis; Helen, Gertrude and Dorothy of Tacoma; three brothers, Ed Tauscher of Chehalis, Frank of Vancouver and Joseph of Palm Beach; and four sisters, Mrs. W E. Bartel, Mrs. A.M. Steel and Mrs. Mary Bona of Chehalis and Mrs. Charley Bailey of Los Angeles.Most of the local relatives attended the funeral, which was held at Tacoma Tuesday.
Jim Tauscher was a well known farmer of the north fork of the Newaukum. His death occurred at Portland Sunday morning March 10.Mr. Tauscher had been ill for some time and had recently been taken to Portland in the hope that he might be benefited by specialists. He was 60 years of age and came to Lewis County with his parents in 1877. During his residence here he had developed a fine farm and did his part well in the development of the country. Surviving relatives are the widow, Mrs. Tresa Tauscher; two sons Jim and Wenzel of Route 2; and four daughters, Mrs. Laura Crowley of Raymond, Mrs. Theresa Layton of Ryderwood and Misses Lena and Rosella Tauscher who reside at the home. There are also four brothers, Leo and Chrys Tauscher of Rt. 2 and Frank C. Tauscher of Vader, also Joe Tauscher of Austria; and three sisters, Mrs. Len Kuehner sr. of Chehalis, Mrs. Regina Peet of Kent and Mrs. Annie Rogers of La Grande, Ore who came to attend the funeral.Services were held yesterday at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Rev. Father A. McGrath officiating. C.L. Stricklin was in charge and burial was at Claquato.
