George W. Tatom and wife Nancy are on the 1860 Sabine Co., Tx. census and on the 1850 Sabine Par., La. census. By the 1870 census George W., the husband has died. George W. did serve in the Civil War in Co. D Tex. Art. and is buried at Springhill Cemetary. By the minutes of First Baptist Church of Hemphill, Tx. he owned at least one slave. His son George Walter was my great grandfather. George Walter owned land in Crockett, Tx. and he and his wife are buried there. George Walter's brother Issac owned land in Crockett also according to his granddaughter. Another brother to George Walter, Samuel, his son Will Tatom is wrote about in an article about old timers of Sabine Co. I also have property tax records on George W. and Nancy Tatom. I hope this helps. Jean
