The 120 year search for James Tate

I descend from James Tate who married Catharina Gunther at the German Reformed Church in Philadelphia April 23, 1798. I descend through his daughter Margaret Tate (1801-1882) who married Rev. James Mayer (1798-1872) who was a minister of the German Reformed Church. According to a Census report for his daughter, he was born in Scotland. I found on a James Tate (1780-1852) who was buried at the Monument Cemetery in Philadelphia and is said to have been born in Ireland. I think this must be my ancestor. The Monument Cemetery was destroyed by Temple University and the stones were thrown in the Delaware River. In the 1800 Census, James Tate is located in the Philadelphia Dock Ward at Philadelphia. His wife was born in New York according to a Census report for her daughter. I think there is information to be found in the extensive records of the German Reformed Church at Philadelphia but these are not online except for the marriage records. I don't find any newspaper records online either although maybe I am not looking in the right place. Its too bad this family has been lost to history at this point. I think the family was large judging by the 1800 Census. Does anybody have a clue about this family? Bill LaBach in Georgetown, Kentucky.
