Hi, It's been ages since I posted to this forum as due to lots of personal upheaval the family history has been put to one side for a while but this is what I've got.
My Joseph Tatchell was born in the Swanage area around 1830 and according to the 1841 Census he had a brother named Henry who must have been born around about 1824. Their parents were George and Mary Tatchell, George was a Farm Labourer born around 1795 and his wife was born around the turn of the century. In 1841 they lived on Swanage High Street and had four sons, Charles, John, Henry & Joseph and four daughters Jane, Mary, Anne & Susan.
I can't find Henry on any of the later Censuses which would tie up with him leaving the country. John, Charles & Joseph all married and had children though. Susan married a shepherd named James Clarke and Jane married a man called William Bridle and both remained in the Swanage area so far as I have discovered.
All the Best,
Josh
