Hello Keith
Many thanks for your reply, very much appreciated. James has become a bit of a mystery to me. I currently have the three native places to work on but as I live in a small country town called Cootamundra in NSW about 4 1/2 hours from Sydney I don't have access to the many records that cities have. I do my research through Genealogy.com and the IGI records so I am limited in what I can research. I have sent for information from the Tasmanian Archives so I hope this will turn up something. Up until about 30 years ago no-one admitted to having a convict in their tree so any information held by a family was sometimes "mislaid".
I am definitely going to follow up your suggestion on Warwick as there was talk of James appealing to the Grand Jury after 2 trials for clemency.
Will let you know if I discover anything.
Once again thank you
Frances
