Urgently seeking details on a Madam TASKER whose name appears in the Sands & McDougall Directories during the 1890s. I am wondering whether she is one and the same Maria TASKER (nee BOARDMAN, neeMULLIN)a great, great auntie of mine. Maria MULLIN was born ~ 1841 in Belfast, Ireland daughter of William MULLIN, Government Surveyor and Mary PATTERSON (a nurse in Ballaarat, Victoria in 1865. Maria first married Henry BOARDMAN at Christ Church Cathedral, Ballaarat in 1861. The couple settled at Smythes Creek, Western Victoria.Children were Eliza (b. 1862)and Jacob (b.1864). No descendants are living today. Henry died in 1866. Maria re-married in 1888 to a John Walter TASKER at 229 Simpsons Road, Collingwood. They had no children. John died in 1896 at 139 La Trobe Street, Melbourne and is buried in a common grave at Melbourne General Cemetery. There was no evidence that Maria was with him at that time. I have no record of what happened to Maria. Perhaps Madam TASKER is the same lady?? Can anyone assist me please? This is a mystery that had eluded solution for many years now! Thanks in anticipation. Regards, Robert Bell, West Essendon, Victoria, Australia.
