Angela,

As I stated, I have 55 years of data on the TARVER family! I will be happy to share information with you and others.

You mention that you show that Samuel and Mary Boyce Tarver had only two sons, John and James Lafayette, as far as your know. Did you find a deed or will or other court record to show they were parents of these two men?

The name James Lafayette should be a CAUTION LIGHT for you. Men named Lafayette were originally so named for the Marquis de LaFayette of Revolutionary War fame. A man born ca. 1716 would almost assuredly NOT have such a middle name. This James (b.ca. 1716) did not use it on any legal record I have discovered.

I have records that give John TARVER and his wife, SARAH ROGERS, seven children: Elizabeth Tarver, Frederick Tarver, John Tarver(apparently died in infancy), John Rogers Tarver, Mary Rogers Tarver, William Tarver and Samuel Tarver.

John Tarver (b.ca. 1722/7) did not leave a will, but Sarah Tarver, his widow, did. The April 1762 Court of Johnston Co., NC, made Sarah guardian of her six living children. The 1761 death date of John Tarver precludes his being one of the so-called 6 or 7 Tarver brothers who fought in the Revolutionary War.

If you will email me your questions, I will be happy to reply and share what I have on your particular branch of the family.

Also, is Ansley your maiden or married name? I am a descendant of Edward Ansley (Ainsley/Endsley/Ensley)and his wife, Naomi Davis, of Tyrrell Co., NC. If these Ansleys/ Ensleys are the same family as yours, I can also share data on them.
