I believe we are talking about two different Thomas Tarvers. Please double check me on this.

The one you are referring to can be found in the online census at http://www.rootsweb.com/~cenfiles/ms/amite/1860/Pg00001.txt

The Thomas Tarver I am seeking is found at http://ftp.us-census.org/pub/usgenweb/census/ms/pike/1850/pg0022b.txt.
