Dallas City Cemetery was for the burial of indigents.

28 December 2001 A listing of burials there has not been located, however, on December 28 Gordon, Judy and Eric Parks did visit the cemetery. The cemetery is located in northwest Dallas in an industrial area. A map showed the cemetery surround by industrial buildings. When we couldn't find a way in we spoke to a couple of policemen who were talking to each other. One led us into the cemetery and the other followed. They parked at one end and we proceeded to the center of the cemetery. The grave markers were barely visible. If the grass had not been dead and short searching would have been near impossible. They were small mounds of concrete with a brass plate nailed to them. The mounds were about 4 by 8 inches and about 4 inches high. The brass plates were about 3 by 4 inches. The names were stamped on the brass plates. The site is about two acres with hundreds of graves. Some of the markers are missing, some have been damaged and some just weathered. We began in the center with each of us checking a different row. Luck was with us as Judy located the grave after checking about 20. Because of the length of the name Jimmie Stringfield it was shortened to Jim Stringfield. It wouldn't surprise me if we had been the only visitors to Jimmie's grave in 65 years.
