Your inquiry in very interesting. My wife, Emma's gggrandmother was Sarah Elizabeth Tartt who married John Holmes Sherard on August 31, 1824 in Wayne County, NC. She was born ca 1800 and died August 22, 1935, in Livingston, Alabama. I believe her father's name was Elnathan Tartt which was also the name of one of her brothers. I have other information about the Tartts, but not at my fingertips. I do know that a good number of the Tartt family relocated to Livingston, Sumter Co, Alabama, and helped create the business environment there. If you haven't seen a copy of "The History of Livingston, Alabama" by Robert Spratt, MD, I would encourage you to order it through interlibrary loan. The name, Tartt, appears many many times.

If this is the same Tartt lineage, please let me know.

Please keep in touch,

Jerry Dennis
