I had some information that Tarry came from the Irish Terry where some coat of arms have been recorded for Tarry as
Arms: Argent, a cross between four marllets gules
Crest: A demi lion proper holding a fleur de lis gules

The variant comes from the French Terri from the french form of the Old German Theudoric, 13th century Anglo/Norman Family associated with Cork
