Washington Co. PA., Wayne CO. OH. Iowa Tarr
I have an Elizabeth TARR b. 1784 PA., died April 20, 1864 pro. Muscatine CO. IA. (1860 census she is living in the home of her daughter and son-in-law Henry Madden in Muscatine CO. IA. age 75)
From "Early Marriage records and a few death notices from Washington County PA. Reporter"Jan 31, 1811:David Stille (Steele?) of Charlestown to Elizabeth Tarr, daughter of Henry Tarr of Washington, by Rev. Matthew Luce.
No known children from this marriage that I know of?
At some point they moved to Wayne CO. Ohio., as Elizabeth (Tarr) Steele marries 2nd John Templeton for his 2nd wife April 14, 1823 in Wayne CO. OH.(they have 3 children and John Templeton was also from Washington CO. PA)
Tarr is not a common name in Washington CO., so for the moment I am assuming that the Henry Tarr who was named in the will of John Baltzer Tarr, South Huntington Township, Westmoreland County is the same person. He lived in Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania. (Does anyone have anything that might show this link or prove my theory?)
So far I have very little information on Henry Tarr.In 1798 he is listed as a tradesman and potter living in Washington, Washington County.
The United States Direct tax list of 1798 shows him living in Washington. He owns two houses and lots with a total area of 14,400 sq. ft.They are valued at $450.
Do you have any information that would tie this Elizabeth to the correct Henry Tarr?
Thankyou for any help you can provide.
Terri
