I am sorry, but I don't have anything on the TARPLEY family, except that Nancy HIX married James TARPLEY, 3 Jul. 1786. It makes sense to me, that your Elizabeth Tarpley b. 29 Apr. 1790 could very well be a daughter of this couple, and when she married and had a child, she named her after her own mother, Nancy HIX/HICKS. According to James Fisher, who supplied me with this info. James and Nancy were married in Caswell Co. Today,
Caswell County borders Person County which borders Granville. Person County was cut from Caswell in 1791, so at the time of your Elizabeth's birth the county (Caswell) was beside Granville, NC..
