Hello - only just found website. I have been researching my husbands family tree. His name is Ray William Hoad (but his birth surname is Tarpey) His father was William Tarpey born in Sydney 1913. Grandparents Thomas Joseph Tarpey and Mary Cartwright who were married in Manchester,UK. Ray's father was killed in shunting accident in 1949, when Ray was 2, so does not remember him, but we have a couple of photos. No one seems to have any other info about William.
He was in the war, but can't find any records.
Ray's mother married again, hence change of surname and Ray had no contact with his grandparents as far as he can remember, although he does remember family holidays at Palm Beach, where I believe his grandfather died.
Any info appreciated!
