Mr. Browning, we might be cousins! My great grandmother was Mary Tarpey, married to David Fitzmorris/Fitzmaurice. Her brother was Dominick and her father was Thomas Tarpey of County Mayo. The 1881 UK census finds them in Kidderminster, Worcs., (Mispelled as Tenpy) living near other Tarpeys. Thomas would have been born ca. 1820. There is a good chance he was a sibling or cousin of your James. I have very little on my Tarpey line, but what I have may be seen at http://home.earthlink.net/~skilton/tree.html
