Hi cousin :-)
They are not the same person though both of these Andrews are 3rd cousins, 3x removed from me.Andrew (Andreas) is a fairly common name in the Schiers-Schuders area, certainly in the Tarnutzers.
Andrew 1840-1877, son of Christian Tarnutzer and Maria Meyer, married Mary Kiel; he immigrated in the 1856-1860 period.
Rev. Andrew 1836-1898, son of Nicholas Tarnuzer and Barbara Kessler, married Ida Bertha Pauline Alexander, as you know; his family arrived at New Orleans on 26 May 1846.It is likely that his family's presence in the Honey Creek Twp. group of Swiss settlers led to my g-g-g grandmother Christina Tarnutzer's emigration in 1855 after her first husband died.
The two Andrews were first cousins, both descended from Andreas Tarnutzer (1779-1836) and Anna Ruosch (1778-1824).The earliest paternal-line Tarnutzer which I have documentation about for them is Andreas Tarnutzer (1629-1699) who married Anna Haag (1630-1707).
I have much more information on the Tarnutzers and their relations.
Regards, Mike Hobart
