Tadeusz Tarnavsky 1938 Ukraine

I am searching for my maternal grandfather's family. My grandfather's name was Tadeusz Tarnawski or possibly Tarnawski. He was a Polish industrial engineer who came to the Kriviy Rig area of Ukraine, a village called Vessely Terni, to study production methods at a sugar factory in Nova Praha (New Prague). He arrived around 1937-1938 and met my grandmother. My grandmother's name was Valentina Maslyuk. She was a nurse. My mother was born in mid-1938. He returned to Poland before mid-1938. On returning to Poland, he married and had at least one child. His wife's name was possibly Anna and his daughter's seems to have been Olga. Family legend has it that Tadeusz came from an aristocratic family and may have been a count.

My mother never met her father, as he left before she was born. I only know this information because, before my Grandmother passed away, she shared it with my mother and my mother shared it with me. Apparently, at some point after my mother was born, my Grandmother notified Tadeusz, but made it clear that she did not want him to return. She chose to raise my mother on her own. At a later time, she learned of Tadeusz's wife and child. His daughter is around the same age as my mother or, possibly, a little younger. My mother was born in 1938.

My mother is an only child and lost her mother (my Grandmother) 16 months ago. Other than a cousin in the Ukraine, she knows of no blood relatives. I know that she would dearly love to have at least some sort of blood family somewhere in the world. My mother is now 72 years old and is not looking to "claim" anything - she just wants to know that she is not alone.

Any information about my Grandfather's family will be deeply appreciated and handled with respect, discretion and sensitivity. I hope that someone, somewhere, will be willing to share.

Thank you for reading!
