Yes, he was the British Col who burned the "White House" in the Revolution, and stole some of Thomas Jefferson's slaves. If you saw the movie with Mel Gibson," The Patriot", the villion of the movie was a take off on Banestre Tarleton, who was called "Bloody Ban". His parents were John Tarleton of Liverpool, England and his wife, Jane Parker. Stephen Tarleton is perhaps, of the same line. I have posted some information about Stephen, and the Maryland Tarletons whom I believe he is related to.
