Looking for information on the parents of Stephen Tarleton, a tabacco appraiser, who fought in Bacon's Rebellion.
He was born c. 1630/7 New Kent county, Va, and died 1687/88 New Kent County, Va. He married Susannah Bates b. c. 1636, who was a daughter of the emigrant, John Bates b. 1598 -1666)and his wife, Elizabeth Winston.
The children of Stephen and Susannah Bates Tarleton were:

2. Judith md John Woodson II. (the son of Robert Woodson and Elizabeth Ferris)
3. Stephen
4. John
5. Charles
6. Elizabeth md Stephen Hughes
On April 12, 1660 Stephen appeared in court when a servant girl Mary Gunnell , said he had got her with child.
Don't know what happened to the child. He married 3 times.
In May 168? He was taken into custody, for cutting up tobacco plants. This uprising was the last of its kind until the unrest that lead to the American Revolution. He also pertisipated in the "Tobacco Riots"

Judith Tarleton Woodson's son Tarleton Woodson, was later to marry his 1st cousin, Ursula Fleming, the daughter of Susanna Tarleton Fleming.
Stephen Tarleton was the son of John Tarleton b. c. 1610.
