I got the information for my posting from:

St. Mary's County, Maryland, Colonial Period Tenants and Owners of "Beaverdam Manor" and Surrounding Manors

I know that Bennett Tarleton was named the guardian for his brother-in-law Basil Cralle. BTW Cralle is pronounced Crawley.

Descendants of Thomas Cralle II

       1        Thomas Cralle II       b: Abt. 1726       d: Bef. March 12, 1774
..              +Ann __________       b: 1729 in Northumberland, VA
.......       2        James Cralle              d: Bef. March 28, 1787
.......       2        Judith Cralle              d: Bef. 1790 in St. Marys County Maryland
...........              +Bennett Tarleton       b: Bet. 1764 - 1774 in St. Mary's County, MD       d: September 9, 1803 in St. Marys County Maryland       m: Bet. 1774 - 1780
.......       2        Thomas Cralle III              d: Aft. 1786
.......       2        Basil Cralle       b: Abt. 1764       d: July 1786 in Lunenburg County, VA

Judith and Basil died fairly young. Basil died in LunenburgCo,VA which is on the VA/NC border. Many of the Cralles moved to the Carolinas. As they moved south, most assumed the spelling Crawley. I would think it quite probable that the Tarletons would have moved south as well.

What do you know about your Tarletons?

Mike
