According to my records, James C. Tarkington was the son of James White Tarkington. He was born 1841 and died 1868. Also James White had a brother, J. O. Tarkington, born 1804, who was in the Civil War. He was a Captain in Co. B 34th Tennessee Infantry, enlisted August 19, 1861, resigned March 28, 1862 due to health and age. His son, Felix J. Tarkington enlisted at the same time. He also resigned due to sickness april 11, 1862.
