I seen the site you mentioned with the family group, and to me, that is in error, as it should be James W.
Not knowing the source of that, but in reference at that home page is a book tittled "The Pioneers Were Our Ancestors", wrote abt 1962, by a Mrs. Watson, and many, many errors have been proved to be in it. This encompassed most of my family and related kin.
All I can vouch for in the difference in the Tarkington man's name, is in the will of my g-great granfather, and by the man who did extensive research on this family, as it was his direct ancestors.
I show no info on William's war record as serving, may have though, but some of the later parts of the Tarkington line did wind up in I/T (Oklahoma), but none in Potawatomie County area that I know of.
Dyer County TN is where this William's ma and pa wound up at.
Near what town is this Cemetery, as I live in N/E Okla and travel down that way from time to time, and it may "click" on me in another way.
