Hello, Marilyn. We have spoken at length before on the Selby line; now I am working, once again, on my maternal grandfather's line, Niebel.
Johannes (John) Niebel married Anna Catherine Valentine in 1777 in York, PA. They moved to Rockingham Co., VA about 1790. They had 9 children, one of whom was Samuel Niebel born about 1792 in Virginia. According to a book on Rockingham County Marriages, he married a Christena Juty (aka Judy) about 1823. The only information I have been able to find is that a Samuel and Sarah Niebbel had a daughter, Sarah Niebbel, born July 22, 1826 and baptized September 3, 1826 at Peaked Mountain Church, McGalheysville, Rockingham, Virginia. At least six of his siblings moved on to southwestern Ohio and some on to Indian, Iowa, etc. by 1820, but I haven't been able to track him further.
I have been tracking a Samuel and Christina Nipple in Page County, Virginia. They had a daughter Sarah Nipple, born about 1826 in Caroline City, VA. On October 23, 1849 in Page County, she married John Tappy, born about 1827.
Their children were James F. Tappy, born 1852, Virginia Tappy, born 1864, and unnamed Tappy born 1870.
Knowing how knowledgeable you are, Marilyn, I am hoping that you can help me tie them in to the Niebel family. It sure sounds to me like it is the same family. Hope to hear from you soon. (I thought I had your email address, but couldn't find it.) My email address is: rockingranny
