Minden Worker is Fatally Hurt by Utica Truck

Jesse Tansley Lives Short Time After Mishap in Valley Town

Little Falls Jesse Tansley, 46
died in the, local hospital Thursday
afternoon after being fatally injured
when struck by a Utica city
truck near Charlesworths Corners,
town of Minden at noon Mr.
Tansley. who is a former St Johnsville
resident, has been employed
on the Adin Nellie farm on route
5-S. and was standing near the road
when the truck, driven by Victor
Brendes. an employee of the City
of Utice, approached as the
truck neared Mr. Tansley stepped
out in front of it and Mr. Brendes
was unable to bring it to a stop in
time to avoid striking the man. The
Tribes Hill state troopers investigated
and took Mr. Brandes story
of the accident and Tansley was
rushed to the local hospital where
he died at 3:15 his injuries consist
ing of a fractured skull, compound
fracture of the left leg, a fractured
left wrist and a number of bruises
and lacerations. Coroner Congdon
of Fort-Plain was notified and will
conduct the inquest. Brendes was
not held.

Mr. Tansley is survived by two
whom work on farms in this section.
