Tanseys in Salem and Lynn, MA
From Salem City directories
1878: Bridget Tansey, widow, at 14 Perkins Street.
1879 Michael Tansey is living with her. That is my G grandfather.
1881 and 1882 they are at 8 Pingree Street.
1884 (Michael married in Sept 1883) She is at 31 East Gardner and Michael at 15 Park.
In 1886 and 1887 she is at 14 Grant and he remained at 15 Park.
In 1888 they both removed to Lynn.
From a variety of Lynn city directories:
1889 Bridget is at 60 N. Federal and Michael is at 37 South.
1891 the only Tansey was a Michael J. with a house at 29 South Street. (That house was in my family until very recently.)
1892there was in addition to Michael, a Thomas who boarded at 34 Fearless Court.
1893 does not mention Thomas and Michael had died but his widow Catherine lived at South Street.
Bridget died 28 June 1904.
Bridget's death certificate lists her husband as Martin Tansey and her maiden name as Murphy. She was the daughter of John Murphy and Mary Degnan. She was 74 years and 10 months when she died.Under disease or cause of death was “Senility.Wound on forhead.Result of fall.”Her residence was listed as 39 Suffolk Street.(The Archdiocesan Cemetaries of Boston, the Lynn area, could find no record of her interment, so I could find out with whom she was buried.)
The 1904 and 5 Lynn Directories has a James F. Tansey as a homeowner at 39 Suffolk. He was a leather cutter by trade.I would assume that this James F. Tansey is related to Bridget some how.
The 1912, 1913, and 1914 books list James F, leather cutter, as a homeowner at 115 Empire.
Michael Joseph Tansey, my g grandfather, has listed on his death certificate James Tansey as his father and Bridget Conaton as his mother.
Would like to know more if anyone had information or ideas.
Thanks
