Hi Catherine, I am also a Tanney. I live near Chicago,Illinois,USA I have the Tanney bible starting with the marriage of Stephen and Jane Lamping in 1836. They settled in Ontario,Canada.Bob Kennedy, who has responded to your listing, is also related to me.His grandfather was my ggrandfather's brother. He had just contacted me also. I have been looking for my ancestors since Feb.2001.I have found Tanney's in Ontario since at least 1819. I haven't found out if they are related to me. Bob has told me Stephen was born in Pennzylvania, USA in 1809, so I'm looking there. I have found a Micahel Tanney on a census index for 1810, Chester Co, Pikeland Twp.,Penn. I'm wondering if he was his father. On Rootsweb ther is a Mariah Tanney from Ireland born in the 1600's.Do you know if you are related to my Tanney's? Please email back!!!!Bye, Wayne
