Hi Jim!
My Tannehill ancestors have a vague connection to Virginia, too, which I have not been able to straighten out.Recently, I came upon a crumb of information which may help you. Please bear with me while I explain.I have been thinking that we are descended from Carlton Tannehill (b. ca. 1727-34) in Frederick Co., Maryland.Carlton married Susannah Magruder of MOntgomery Co., but unfortunately died ca. 1783.Susannah married again...and most likely took any children (or some of the younger ones?) she had with her.Her second spouse was JOhn C. Singleton of Hampshire County, Virginia. (a part of Va. that would later become WV)I have never chased him down, census-wise; however, recently when I was at Nat. Archives looking at census recs, I saw in the index for (I believe) 1800 JOhn C. Singleton of Va.Although I knew she married a second time, I discovered on one of the boards a Singleton Family descendant who was descended from a Susanna Magruder who was married to "Carlton Tawnyhill" of Frederick Co., Md. (phonetically, correct). This ma was descended from John Magruder Singleton, son of Susanna.I hope this helps....Doesn't it seem unlikely that Susannah and Carlton T. would have only one child...?
