Ninian Tannehill of Logan Co, KY is my g,g,g grandfather.
He was born abt. 1782 in South Carolina. I am certain that
the name "Ninian" was derived from a Ninian Beall who came from Scotland to Maryland. The Logan Co, KY "Ninian" is related to the Maryland "Ninian" via Andrew Tannehill, b. abt.
1740 and then back several generations to the Maryland "Ninian".This linkage of "Ninian of KY" to, actually, William Tannehill of Maryland is rather convoluted, as this line has not been clearly established with definitive documentation. There have been "guesses" about this line--for example, Ninian (KY) <== Andrew (1740, SC) <== Phillip (1708) <==John (Ab.t 1688)<== Andrew (1666, Prince
George's Co., MD) <== William (b. Scotland then to Prince George's Co, MD).
So, If anyone has "definitive" proof of the above line, or another line, I'd really be interested in this information.
