In reading your posting of 7 July 2006, can you fill me in on your sources for the South Carolina "James Tannehill"?
I have been working on the line of my g,g, grandfather, John Thomas Tannehill who was born ca. 1815, in, I think, Logan Co., KY. If this is so, then his line is:
John Thomas Tannehill (b. ca. 1815, Logan Co. KY)
Ninian Tannehill (b. ca. 1782, SC) (his brothers were:
Andrew, b. 1767 and Alfred, b. 1784)
Andrew Tannehill (b. 1740) [possibility of this being "George
T." instead of Andrew)
John Tannehill (b. 1688, married Elizabeth Scott, d. 1743, NC)
Andrew Tannehill (b. 1666, m. Ann Deakin)
William Tannehill (b. ca. 1620, Scotland, m. Alice)
The line from Andrew (1740) to John (1688)seems firm based on land record data when "Andrew" is mentioned as John's heir. BUT, I've seen references to a "Philip T." but no validating sources are given.
So how does your "James T." fit into the South Carolina line?
Thanks, Bob Tannehillfirstname.lastname@example.org
