Sarah Tankersley and her husband-Wilson Bachelor
were my GGgrandparents. They married in 1847/1848
in either Hardin or McNairy counties Tn.
Wilson's father was also named
Wilson Batchelor(he used a T). He is listed in
both the the 1830 and 1840 McNairy TN census. There
is one other Tankesly family listed in the county
during the period-George Tankesly born 1803
and his wife-Nancy- also born 1803. In the 1850 census
they have a number of children age 15 down to about 7
with the older ones being born in Alabama and the younger
ones in TN. One of the daughters is named Clarissa. I have
wondered if perhaps this George had a middle name of Roland?
Oh well,..thanks for the encouragement. I'll definitely keep
digging !
