Hi James,

Thanks for the information about the other siblings in this family. Alexandre T + Hermine Fecteau are my great-great-grandparents.

I am fascinated by your surname. Is it a variant of Tanguay? I have often wondered whether there was a period where the "g" was not pronounced. There is a historical marker in St-Marc-sur-Richelieu, down by the river side, listing the men of the village who were "Patriotes" during the time of the Papineau rebellion. It includes Joseph Tanguay, but they give him the nickname "Taillé". I have not been able to explain this nickname, but I had the one thought that it may have represented the dialectal pronunciation of his surname. Phonetically, it would be something like [taw - yay].

Again, thanks for your help. Is there any information I could share with you?

Bob
