Hi Carrie
I am still chewing away at this information, attempting to match it with records I have found.
Do you think that the Elizabeth of the 1833 will could be Burton's mother, Elizabeth Obre Tandy?
And yes, that's a lot of children! I've found records for the son, James, that say he was the seventh son so it's certainly in the realm of possibility that there would be an equal number of daughters.
Can you confirm that George was the eldest child? You show a birthdate for his father of 1675 would mean that he was only 15 when George was born - one would assume from that that George was the eldest.
As to Smyth Tandy, he seems to have had a great deal of trouble in Ireland with arsonists burning his houses and corn ricks and killing his animals. Was this behind his emigration to the US?If you don't have access to these newspaper articles I can send them on.
