Thames/Tims Family Assn Website Grand Re-Opening
Hello to all Thames-Tames-Tims-Timms-Timbs-etc. Family Researchers,
We are pleased and excited to announce the unveiling of the Thames/Tims Family Association's website. We have been hard at work for the past 6 or 7 months putting together our new website, and we think you are really going to be pleased with it. A HUGE thanks goes to Terry Thames, our webmaster, for without his experience we couldn't have even attempted this project.
Our new site contains the lineages of all researchers who have submitted their lineages to the TTFA - the result is what we call the Tree. In addition, we have taken all the photos and documents that have been submitted thus far and converted them to the new site layout. What makes this new site really special is that we have the ability to link the photos and documents to people in the Tree. To that end, we welcome your additions to the Tree and to the Photos and Documents.
In order to start viewing the information, you will need to create a Login and Password for yourself. Once you do that, you will receive an email confirming your registration and then you can dive in onto the site. Once you register, your confirmation email should arrive within 24 hours, but normally much quicker than that.
If you would like to submit your lineage to add to the Tree, please submit any source citations about your ancestors at the same time. If you have actual documents and photos about your ancestors that you'd like to scan and submit to link to your ancestor, again, those would be great additions to the site.
TO SEND ADDITIONS TO THE TREE, OR PHOTOS OR DOCUMENTS OR OTHER ITEMS: Use the Contacts link to get ahold of us.
TO SUGGEST CHANGES-ADDITIONS-CORRECTIONS ABOUT AN ANCESTOR WHO IS ALREADY IN THE TREE, use the Suggest tab that you will find on each individual ancestor's page.
The data from the old site is not yet completely converted, and we still have some tweaking to do. However, what is converted is fully operational (with the exception of Articles, which we still have to tweak to get the articles to open up, and Links, which will be up and running by the end of this weekend). Items that have not been converted to the new site are still available on the old site. You can get to the old site by hovering your mouse on the Home link, and a link will pop up under it that will take you to the old site. Once on the old site, you can get back to the new site from the Home page.
In addition, we don't necessarily have all the photos and documents and other items linked to anyone in the tree yet. If you use the browsing options and find a photo or document about an ancestor that you can supply more information on, please get ahold of us!
We're really excited to have everyone take a look at the site and utilize the resources - both what's already there, and all the items we plan to add in the future. And feel free to contact us if you have any questions about using the site.
The link to the new site is www.thames-tims.org/genealogy/index.php.Enjoy!
